2-5-47 YMCA Here Tonight Coach Ted Mumby's high riding Spartan Varsity wrestling squad will vie with the strong San Francisco Central YMCA grapplers tonight at 8:00 in the Men's Gym. The YMCA has an outstanding squad and is led by Walter Schafer, who wrestled Bill Rodman to a tie in the Junior Wrestling Tourney at Berkeley a few days ago. He was awarded a close decision by the referee. No ties were allowed in the tourney. Mel Bruno, former Spartan, is in charge of the team and may wrestle an exhibition bout. He is arranging a match with San Jose and San Quentin soon. The Spartans are led by team captains Ray Miser and Hans Weidenhofer, who hope to continue their winning ways tonight. Miser seeks revenge over Don Scrimger, who defeated him at the California meet las December.
