San Jose State's varsity and freshman wrestling teams bring down the curtain on the 1941 season today and tomorrow
at the San Jose YMCA's first annual Eugene Grattan Memorial Tournament, after the most successful Spartan season
in years.
The Spartans piled up an impressive record last week in the PCI meet, scoring first places in four events and seconds
in the other four for the most one-sided win in history.
The Grattan Memorial Tournament is in honor of the late San Jose State College coach, who was unfortunately killed
in an automobile accident last fall. The meet will carry on the traditions of boys' work carried on by Grattan
at the YMCA.
Entries from all over Santa Clara County have been received and competition will be held in three divisions--junior
high, high school, and unlimited. San Jose State will compete in the unlimited division with entries from Santa
Clara, Stanford, and unattached club teams.
First round matches will be held this afternoon and semifinals tonight. Final bouts will be held at the YMCA gym
tomorrow night. |
