SJ Wrestlers To Take On San Mateo Tomorrow

An attractive wrestling program is in store for local fans tomorrow night when the powerful San Mateo Junior College mat squad will come here to meet the rejuvenated Spartans.

The local boys are out to reverse an early season score, which found the junior collegians leading by a two point margin at the completion of the regular eight bouts.

Under the tutelage of Bill Hubbard and Gene Grattan, the Spartans have improved by leaps and bounds and must be considered a definite threat to the powerful up-peninsula men.

Only two matches have been dropped by the locals this season and the other, to an experienced team from the Sunnyvale Air Base, was wiped off the consciences by a sweeping upset victory later in the season. If the Spartans can get over tomorrow's opposition they will have completed the most successful season in the history of the sport at San Jose State.

The coaches have been working overtime in an effort to have the San Jose men in top shape for the second invasion of the junior collegians. They are confident that the Spartans will come through for a revenge victory in the meet.

It has not been announced that there will be changes in the lineup and State supporters will probably find Salameda, Haeberle, Philpott, Luckey, Enos or Glover, and Di Mello and others climbing through the ropes in hopes of gaining the reverse verdict.
