 Spartans To Meet Bears

Coach Sam Della Maggiore's wrestlers will get their first taste of dual meet competition in over a month Thursday when they tangle with the University of California Bears at Berkeley. At this writing the meet was stilling hanging fire with both coaches having agreed on Thursday as the appointed day, but with the Bear coach having failed to send final confirmation.

Pending definite information today, Della Maggiore is working his grapplers at a fast tempo with the ultimate thought of reversing the defeat handed down by the Cal men the last time the two squads met. Without any definite knowledge as to what the Bear roster will be, Sam is planning to send a full complement of men to Berkeley.

Hans Weidenhoffer, ablest performer on the squad, has been pronounced in A-1 shape by Della Maggiore and will rule a slight favorite to top the light heavyweight division.

Coach Della Maggiore is particularly anxious to get the Cal meet as his men need another bout under their belts before the PAA championships coming up the last of the month.

The Food Machinery athletes, after issuing a blanket challenge to sports teams, seem to want no part of the Spartan grapplers, and the scheduled meet between the two is still up in the air.
