Taking the measure of the Cal Aggie matmen yesterday at Davis, the San Jose State grapplers are in serious training
for the rest of this week in preparation for the Pacific Coast Intercollegiates to be held at Berkeley tomorrow
and Saturday.
The California Bears are rated favorites for the matches but the San Jose team figure to be in the running.
The main hopes of the Spartans in the PCI meet will rest with team captain Dave Hines (165) and with Ivan Olsen
(136). These two boys have carried the brunt of the San Jose attack during most of the season so far. It was these
two who went back to Lansing, Michigan, to compete in the National Intercollegiate tournament there.
Fighting for the locals in the PCI will be Fawcett at 128, Olsen at 136, Albright at 145, Raiche at 155, Hines
at 165, Weidenhoffer at 175, and either Dawl or Bailey in the heavyweight division. |
