Masdeo Wins Title |

| Seven Spartan wrestlers won medals in the annual Senior PAAU Northern California and Nevada championships Friday
and Saturday nights at the San Francisco YMCA. San Jose finished third place behind the championship Olympic Club
and University of California. Team captain Fortune Masdeo (145) was the only San Jose man to place first. Masdeo pinned Mike Bertoglio, Spartan freshman, in the finals. In the 112-pound division, Vic Christiansen received second place behind Adachi of California. Freshman George Yoshisato finished second place at 118 pounds, being defeated by Wayne Zook of the Olympic Club. Second places were also won by frosh captain Davey Hines at 155 pounds and Al Duty at 123 pounds. Third places were registered by two varsity men, Bob Bronzan (hwt) and Charlie Smith (191). |
