Grapplers Lose Olsen For UCLA Meet |
||
| Ivan Olsen, 135 pound CCAA wrestling champ is out of Saturday's grappling meet with UCLA due to a cracked rib sustained
in last Saturday's Far Western wrestling tournament held in Oakland. Olsen injured himself in the finals and as a result lost the 135 pound title he won last year to Wolf of the San Francisco Olympic Club. Team captain Dave Hines and freshman Janic won individual titles for the Spartans although the varsity finished in fourth place and the frosh in fifth place. The University of California won the meet with a total of 38 points followed by the Olympic Club with 21 points, Inglewood YMCA 15, SJS varsity 13, SJS frosh 9, and San Jose High School 8 points. The San Jose High School team is also coached by Spartan coach Sam Della Maggiore. Al Long was the other Spartan to reach the finals, but lost out to Vanbeber of California. |
