 PCI Finals Destination For Matmen

Spartan wrestlers carry an 8-5 dual meet record into the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Championships this weekend. Accompanied by coach Hugh Mumby, the grapplers travel to San Luis Obispo to vie for the title Friday and Saturday.

Last year, the Spartans finished the finals in a seventh place tie after landing three thirds, a fourth, and a sixth place. Oregon State finished on top of the meet.

The probable entrants in this year's finals will be Mike Stone (123). Stone could have to face Fresno State's defending PCI champ, Roy Stuckey. John Lim should represent SJS in the 130-pound class and Art Beatty wrestles at 137. Carl Dommeyer, victor in three straight decisions, goes at 147. Cliff Olsen is tough at 57 pounds, and Gary Scardina should be the choice at 167. Bill Harm has been impressive recently with two pins in his last three outings in the 177-pound slot. Heavyweight Don Anderson handles the top class chores for the mat squad in its final meet of the season.
