Wrestlers Leave For California Matches Tonight

Eight Spartan wrestlers embark for Berkeley at 12:00 today where they will weigh in at 2:30 for the California Intercollegiates.

The matches do not start until 7:00, which will give the boys some four hours to lie around and rest up, and incidentally, give those who have to seat down to make weight an opportunity to recuperate to some extent before their battles.

Coach Grattan is faced by a serious setback due to the probable withdrawal of Glenn DuBose, star heavy, who sustained a rib injury in last week's tourney which puts him on the sidelines.

Wendell Hanson, who will substitute for DuBose, has been coming up strongly in his last matches, gaining two falls over his opponents before being eliminated at Oakland last Friday, and the big boys will have plenty of trouble with the SJS aspirant.

Team captain Art Philpott is another varsity man who is definitely out, and the lightheavy task will fall to Pete Enos, with Bruce Allen, former 175 pounder, wrestling in the 165 pound division.

George Wenglein has handled the 155 pound assignment consistently throughout the season and tonight's meet will find him representing State in this class.

Gene Lear, Bob Roumasset and Jack Fiebig, top men in the 145, 135, and 125 pound divisions, all had trouble making weight at Oakland last Saturday, but the five hours rest after weighing should leave them in much better condition.
