Grapplers Meet Coast Colleges In Next Match

Big time competition, including Stanford, California, UCLA, and the California Aggies is what the Spartan Grapplers
run into at the intercollegiates at Berkeley, Friday night.
California and UCLA are the only teams coach Grattan's boys have met so far, and the results of these meets compared
with the score of the UCLA versus Bear match make it somewhat difficult to rate the relative strength of each team.
San Jose first wrestled the Bruins down south early in the season with only half their squad available for competition
and were defeated. Later in the season they met UC here and came out on the short end of a 21-18 decision.
Following this the Bruins encountered UC and were trounced by a score of 25-10, all of which seems to indicate
that condition makes the match.
Stanford and the Cal Aggies are unknown quantities as far as the local wrestlers are concerned, although in the
recent Far West tourney the Aggies failed to show much in the way of talent.
Each school is allowed an entry of but one man in each weight which limits the squad to eight men. As the regular
quota of injuries have been cropping up, coach Grattan will unable to announce his lineup until the day before
the meet.
The matches will be organized similarly to those of the Far West tourney with the preliminaries beginning in the
afternoon and the semi-finals to be wrestled later in the evening. |
