Wrestlers' Year Ends In Pullman
|
| |
| Three Spartan wrestlers failed to qualify last Saturday for the NCAA championships at Auburn, Alabama, March 25-27,
when they lost at the District 8 qualifying meet at Pullman, Washington. |
| |
| Dan Cabral, a junior, lost to the eventual champion of the 118 pound division in the first round. Then he beat
the third seeded wrestler before being eliminated by the San Diego State grappler who edged him for the PCAA title
last week. |
| |
| Senior Terry Kerr (142) wrestled five times before being ousted. His first opponent was the defending NCAA titlist. |
| |
| Kerr's younger brother Tim, a sophomore, lost in the opening round to the second seeded 158 pound wrestler and
then injured a knee in his second match and was withdrawn by coach Hugh Mumby. |
| |
| "This ends the season for us," Mumby said. "Everything from here on is freestyle AAU tournaments."
The first of these, Pacific Coast Championships, will be held here Saturday. |
