 Grapplers Enter Far West Meet

Coach Gene Grattan will enter two teams in the annual Far Western wrestling tournament tonight and tomorrow at Oakland YMCA. The undefeated freshman squad threatens to finish ahead of the varsity, according to Grattan.

Possible weakness in the lower divisions may cost the varsity the title. Con Lacy (121) and Bob Norona (128) are doubtful starters. Both have been out of practice for the past week, Lacy with an injured arm and Norona with a cold.

George Yoshisato, freshman, will be the only Spartan entrant at 115 pounds as there are no varsity men in this division. Gail Stewart will carry Grattan's hope in the 135-pound class. Stewart is replacing the 1938 Far Western champion, Jack Fiebig, who dropped out of school.

Lineup for the Spartans is: Sam Della Maggiore (hwt), Charlie Smith and Bob Riddle (light heavyweight), Vic Gorin (165), Mel Bruno (155), and team captain Fortune Masdeo (145). Both Bruno and Masdeo were Far Western champions last year.
