 Wrestlers Leave For PCI Finals

Hugh Mumby and ten Spartan grapplers left this morning for tomorrow's PCI wrestling championships at Southern Oregon College, in Ashland, Oregon.

San Jose State will be competing against 14 schools for the PCI crown. Mumby's 1962 team took third place honors. Making the trip for the two-day tourney will be three men who placed in last year's finals.

Paul Hodgins (191) finished third and may go even higher this year, according to Mumby, even though Hodgins has been out most of the season by a shoulder injury and Don Anderson.

The 191 and 115-pound classes are not recognized in dual meets unless agreed upon by opposing coaches. Hodgins was unable to topple Anderson in the heavyweight class, so was inactive most of the current campaign.

Anderson and Warren King, the only unbeaten regular, figure to do well, said Mumby. King will go in the 147-pound class.

King and Cliff Olson (157) both earned fourths in the PCI last year.

"Interest has dropped in the PCI tournament," Mumby remarked. "Only 14 teams will enter this year, as compared to 25 last year."
