SJSU Wrestling Archives The Spartan Daily 2-27-40                  Far Western Tourney Next For Matmen            Coach Gene Grattan's varsity wrestling squad has stiff opposition ahead of them, with the annual Far Western tournament set for Friday and Saturday at the Oakland YMCA, and the big dual meet of the year with the University of California Golden Bears next Wednesday, March 6, in Spartan Pavilion. The Spartans finished third in the tourney last year, behind California and the Olympic Club who tied for first. Both finished behind the Grattan-coached grapplers in last week's Northern California Invitational tournament won by San Jose. Grattan's undefeated freshman team will also enter the Far Western meet. Latest victim for the frosh was the California Aggies' varsity at Sacramento last Saturday by a score of 36-6. Carl Kuhl, George Yoshisato, and team captain Dave Hines, who have been undefeated this year, are expected to be outstanding for the freshmen in the tournament.
