The Spartan wrestling squad, under coach Hugh Mumby, tackles another tough assignment tonight. The grapplers are
slated to tangle with the Golden Gators of San Francisco State in the Gator's home gym.
The Spartans have been victims of four defeats in their last five outings. A win tonight would help to equalize
the won-lost column for the latter part of the season.
Mumby tentatively retained his regular wrestlers for the match. These include Mike Stone (123), John Lim (130),
Art Beatty (137), and Carl Dommeyer (147).
At 157, Cliff Olsen will represent SJS. Olsen was victorious in the Southern Oregon and University of Oregon matches
last weekend.
In the 167-pound class, Gary Scardina gets the nod. He recently performed well defensively against UCLA's highly
touted Rahim Javanmard.
Bill Harm, Spartan grappler in the 177-pound category, also scored two victories in the Oregon tour. A steady performer,
he should be tough against the Gator's representative.
Mumby has been going with heavyweight Don Anderson throughout the season. Anderson has lost only three matches
in his action this year. Along with his decisions, he has outstanding pins registered to his credit against San
Diego State and UCLA matmen. |
