Matmen Tie Gators; Face Cal Tonight

The varsity wrestlers, who tied San Francisco State 16-16 in the wrestling room Monday, play host to UC Berkeley tonight at 7:30 in the Men's Gym.

In the SFS match, Roy Kusumoto (123) won by forfeit, Ted Kaphengst (130) won by decision, Loren Miller (147) was the only Spartan who pinned his opponent, and Bill Harm won the 177-pound division.

"Cal has one of the best wrestling teams in Northern California," said Spartan mat coach Hugh Mumby.

"SFS is not a strong team. I was very disappointed we didn't win the meet. I think we are capable of giving Cal a good match, but in contrast to the SFS meet, each wrestler will have to give a maximum performance."

The SJS grapplers have now won eight, lost four, and tied two matches in season competition.

Loren Miller has now won 15 out of his 16 matches in the 147-pound division.
