SJS Grapplers Beat Olympics In Close Meet |

| More than 300 fans saw Coach Ted Mumby's great Spartan varsity wrestling team win their eighth straight match in
a row at the Spartan Gym last night as they defeated a strong and hard fighting Olympic Club team by the close
score of 19-25. The Winged o team was actually ahead 15-14 in the final match when team co-captain Han Weidenhofer pinned Nuland to win the meet. Wednesday evening the victorious Spartans defeated a good San Francisco State team by a score of 26-12. The Spartans travel to San Quentin this evening where they will meet Warden Clinton Duffy's boys. The evening's outstanding performer was NAAU cahmpion Doc Northrup of the Olympic club as he pinned Pat Felice in a very close meet. Northrup also saw action in two exhibition boutsx with Bill Elam abd co-captain Ray Miser. Other matches saw Bill Rothwell give the Spartans an early five point lead as he pinned E. D'Agostini. Tom Payne of SJS decisioned R. Dale and Bill Rodman and Sam Lawson also won their matches by decisions. F. Capers and G. Nell won via the fall route for the Olympic Club. |
