SJSU Wrestling Archives The Spartan Daily 2-2-38                  Wrestlers Face Strong Olympic Club Friday            History might do a little repeating Friday night for Gene Grattan's wrestlers, but not if he can help it. Sparta's muscle men engage San Francisco's Olympic Club the day after tomorrow and thereby hangs a tale. Last year, after winning two straight matches, Grattan's gang bumped into the Olympics and were promptly defeated 18-16. The only Spartan victors were Puckett, Fiebig, McGuire, and Della Maggiore. Three of these won't participate Friday but Jack Fiebig hopes to do his share by pinning his opponent. Thus far this season San Jose has won two meets, and will be gunning for number three Friday. Should they defeat the Olympic Club matsters, it will boost the local mat stock pretty high. Coach Grattan is taking two groups of wrestlers to San Francisco. He is uncertain at present as to which men will comprise the squad. More intersquad bouts are scheduled for tonight to determine the men facing the Olympic team.
