SJSU Wrestling Archives The Spartan Daily 2-19-54                  Spartan Wrestlers Enter Pacific Mat Tournament            Some of the best groomed wrestling squads of the Bay Area will gather in the San Francisco YMCA tomorrow afternoon to take part in the annual Pacific Athletic Association senior mat tourney. San Jose State will be well represented at the meet, according to coach Hugh Mumby, who has named 11 possible entrants. Among Spartans expected to compete and defend the second place hold they earned last year, are PCI champ Dick Francis, Pete Herder. Ron Stingley, and Gus Talbot of the varsity group. Freshmen who will probably compete include Gary Goss, Lynn Brooks, John Marx, Bob Allan, Ken Simpkins, and Benny Fernandez. The San Francisco Olympic Club is the defending champion and looms again as a strong contender for the title. Stanford University, San Diego State College, University of California, San Francisco State, and the Bay Area YMCAs will be entered.
