  Spartan Grapplers Victorious On Road

With two road wins in two meets in two days, Spartan wrestlers hope to add two more victories before returning to San Jose this weekend.

The grapplers faced their toughest test last night when they tangled with Oregon State. Results were unavailable at press time.

Hugh Mumby's matmen will complete the junket Friday night against a strong University of Oregon unit.

Victories have come over Chico State 20-8 on Tuesday and Oregon College of Education 22-9 on Wednesday.

Loren Miller and Cy Lucas have headed the Spartan victories. Miller brought his season dual record to 13-1 with a decision and pin in his 160-pound matches.

Lucas, a semester break transfer from Foothill, has filled in the 167-pound division for the ailing Mike Herschfelt by winning by a decision and a third-round pin.

Ron Matheson rejoined the team to earn back his 145-pound position and gain two decision victories.

Paul Hatling and Rich Popejoy have also earned a set of decisions in the 177-pound and heavyweight classes respectively. Lightweight Dennis Runyon earned a draw at Chico and won at Oregon. Gary Scardina won in the 152-pound match at Chico.

The wins hiked the grapplers' season mark to 6-3-1. Four dual meets are tabbed for the Spartans after their current trip.
