 SJSU Wrestlers Travel To Stanford

SJS's wrestling team travels to Stanford tonight in an effort to avenge an earlier home loss to the Indians 22-16 last Wednesday. The match gets underway at 7:30 pm.

Coach Bill Smith is confident of defeating Stanford after a fine showing by the Spartans in the second half of a double dual meet at UC Davis Saturday. After falling to a tough Humboldt State squad 27-13, the Spartans, let by Paul Hatling, whipped Davis 31-11.

Hatling (177) scored pins over Bob Price of Humboldt and Jim Brunkau of Davis in helping push the grapplers' seasonal mark to an even 4-4.

Davis took an early 8-5 lead against San Jose, but a pin by Terry Kerr (142), a decision by John Jacabo (150), a pin by Tim Kerr (158), and a decision for Walt Thatcher (167) put the match well out of Davis' reach.
