A barnstorming jaunt to the sunny climes of southern California is in store for wrestling mentor Gene Grattan and
his troop of merry matmen.
Meeting three outstanding college grappling squads over the weekend, Grattan's gang is in for a tough assignment.
Friday evening Sparta's troop tangle with Fullerton Junior College. Saturday afternoon the locals warm up to their
task by taking on the men of Whittier College, and on Saturday evening, Los Angeles Junior College entertains Grattan's
clan.
Coach Grattan is taking only eleven varsity men south. He would very much like to enter Mel Bruno, but Bruno is
a freshman and is ineligible to compete against the southerners.
Marring a clean record of no injuries this season, Sam della Maggiore, hard-luck State heavyweight, suffered a
serious a serious leg injury las night during practice. Grattan was counting heavily on della Maggiore this year,
but it now appears that Sam will be on the sidelines for a few weeks. He had just recovered from an injury incurred
