Wrestlers Defeat Oakland YMCA |

| Losing but two of the eight matches, the San Jose matmen downed the championship aspirations of the Oakland YMCA
Friday night in defeating the club 21-8. Johnny Jones, 185-pounder heavyweight turned in the most brilliant performance of the evening in downing the YMCA giant, 290-pound John Croll with a fall in 4:34. Jack Fiebig, team high point man, was forced into an extra period before downing his opponent Elmer Rossi, YMCA 125-pounder. Frank McGuire surprised by taking top time over former Spartan Bruce Allen, with the time of 1:03. In defeating the Oakland YMCA, Coach Gene Grattan's wrestlers have proven definitely to be in the championship class and are now being considered as "in the running" for the Far Western team championship honors. Coach Grattan stated after the meet, "The YMCA presented the best team they have had in years and I am certainly proud of my boys' showing in all eight matches.
