 Grapplers Take Three Over Break

The SJSU wrestling team sweetened the pot over semester break by sweeping three dual meets and taking second in the Biola Invitational last weekend.

Wins included LA State, Long Beach State, and Fullerton State. The three wins increased the Spartans' seasonal record to 13-6.

Coach Terry Kerr emphasized the fact that the past four meets have served as preparation for the PCAA meet in Fresno, March 2.

"We have done extremely well the past few weeks, in fact we are on a 13-meet winning streak," Kerr said.

Major winners over the break were Dan Kida (118) with three dual meet wins and a first place at the Biola meet, plus being named the Most Valuable Wrestler of the tournament.

Kida's overall record is 34-1-3, good enough for being the number one wrestler in California at 118.

Steve Dock placed second in the 134 class at Biola, losing a close match in the finals.
