San Jose State's wrestling squad will attempt to improve on its seasonal dual meet record tonight when it travels
to Stanford for a 7:30 match against the Indians.
The frosh squads from the two schools will trade holds in a preliminary match at 6:00.
Hugh Mumby's Spartans have registered a 2-4 record for the first half of the season. SJS has dropped three of its
last four outings, the latest setback Friday night against Oregon State 27-6.
In a recent excursion to Southern California, the Spartans lost a 14-13 squeaker to San Diego State, defeated Long
Beach State 19-9, and were tripped by UCLA 16-11.
Stanford has met only one school on the Spartan mat schedule--Oregon State, which blanked the Tribe.
Leading the San Jose attack tonight will be undefeated 147-pound Warren King, whose lone blemish to date was a
draw in Friday's encounter against the Beavers. Heavyweight Don Anderson has lost just once in dual meets and along
with 191-pound Paul Hodgins and King, was a titlist in December's Northern California intercollegiate meet.
Spearheading the Spartababes are Gary Scardina, undefeated at 157-pounds and Dick Law head (167), and Con Hrapoff
(177) who have been beaten only once this season. |
