Matmen Grab Sixth Victory |

| San Jose's wrestling team made its sixth straight dual meet victory by upsetting the highly favored Olympic Club,
19-15, last night in the Men's Gym. Jose Tiago made it straight six win by decisioning Bill Donecho of the Olympians. Undefeated Dick Francis and Bob Roebuck also kept unblemished records by decisioning their foes. Francis (177) decisioned Alan Bartholme, and Roebuck (hwt) outpointed Andy Odstadt of the Olympic Club. The Spartans picked up more valuable points in the 123 and 137-pound brackets when the Olympic Club forfeited these matches. The Olympic Club picked up points in the 147-pound match when Bill Barden pinned Pete Herder of SJS in 3:59 of the third period. In the 157-pound division, Doc Northrup pinned the Spartan's Al Base in 2:30 of the initial period. Don Schminger pinned Joe Thornley in 54 seconds of the second period in the 167-pound match. Coach Hugh Mumby was well pleased with his team's showing as the Olympic Club always has a strong and experienced team. |
