Spartans Meet Berkeley YMCA Tonight |
||
| The Berkeley YMCA, led by Hal Maddock, who won the Far Western 135 pound title last year, will invade the Spartan
Gym tonight at 8:00 to battle Coach Ted Mumby's Spartan varsity wrestling squad. Several Spartans will be wrestling for the first time this evening. They include Willis Stone, Dick Brown, Lawrence Weiss, Bill Jensen, and Del Armstrong. Freddy Albright will wrestle an exhibition bout with Hal Maddock. Incidentally, both are champions in their division. Maddock took the Far Western, while Albright took the PCI title back in 1942. Four of the Berkeleyites will wrestle twice tonight. They Include Maddock, Charlie Pabis, Bob Canary, and Bordy Hommer. These second bouts will not count in the official scoring, however. There will be eight divisions and a total of 13 bouts tabbed for tonight's affair. The other San Jose entrants for tonight are Jim Shouse, Hank Imsen, Ray Scaffone, Pat Felice, Bill Elam, Hans Weidenhofer, Dan Foster, and Bob Cooper. |
