  SJS Grapplers Open Season With 22-6 Loss

 
     
  San Jose State's grapplers dropped their first match of the year to Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo 22-6 in the Spartan Gym Friday night.

The Spartans were able to win only two divisions as Warren King won a 4-1 decision over Cal Poly's Sam Huerta in the 147s. The other decision for San Jose came in the heavyweight class as Paul Hodgins took a 11-6 decision from Joe Garret.

Cal Poly took the other divisions as Larry Owen topped SJS' John Lim in the 123s. Jim Teem defeated Byron Kobayashi in the 130s. In the 137 class Cal Poly's Neil Pew took a 6-5 win from Carl Dommeyer.

Spencer Tamoto took the 157s from Cliff Olson on a 5-4 decision. Harvey Wool took the measure of Ismael Rodriguez 4-3 in the 167s. The final decision for Cal Poly came in the 177s as Halley Hebert beat Jim Noon on a 4-2 decision.
