Grapplers Vie At Berkeley Y

Coach Hugh Mumby will send a 15-man wrestling squad to Berkeley tomorrow morning for the Northern California YMCA
Open Wrestling Championships. The tourney opens at 10:00 am.
Grapplers scheduled to enter the tournament are Joe Isasi (115), Kiyoshi Oshiba (123), Ben Fernandez (137), Lynn
Brooks and Jerry Schaffer (147), Bob Allan, Dick Weger, and Fred Temps (157), Gus Talbot, Ken Spagnola, and Ron
Phillips (167), Jerry Ledin and Russ Camilleri (177), Roy Frontani (191), and Ken Rugg (HWT).
There will not be an entry in the 130-pound class, Coach Mumby said.
In their last appearance in the tourney, the Spartans copped second, while they won the championship in 1952. |
