Injured Matmen Test Gators In Dual Meet
|
| |
| SJS's "kneedled" wrestling squad opens its 1969-70 dual meet competition tonight at 7:30 against San
Francisco State on the Gator's mats. |
| |
| Grappler coach Bill Smith, bemoaning the loss of Art Stone and Terry Kerr to knee injuries said, "If we had
Stone in there, we'd have a pretty good chance of winning." |
| |
| But Stone, who was hurt in the Spartan's initial season effort 12 days ago, is definitely out of the Gator encounter.
Kerr (142) who now has both knees injured is considered doubtful. |
| |
| Coach Smith, who confesses that the Spartans will be stronger in tournaments than in dual meets, should get a good
indication of team strength against SFS. |
| |
| The Gators placed fourth, one notch above SJS, in last weekend's Chico State Invitational. Host Chico was third
and Central Washington College second. |
| |
| Cal Poly-SLO which tied for the SJS title with Chico, swept seven first in breezing to the team championship. |
| |
| Cleve Holt (190) won an individual title for the Spartans while Paul Hatling took second in the 177-pound division. |
| |
| Tim Kerr, Terry's brother, grabbed fourth place in the 158-pound class for the SJS matmen. |
