 Riddled Wrestlers Survive At Chico

SJS's battered and bruised wrestling team will need the christmas holidays to nurse their men back to health following a string of injuries.

Coach Terry Kerr and five Spartan wrestlers traveled to Chico State Saturday for an invitational tourney. After the meet was over, SJS left with one 3d place finish and two injuries.

167-pounder Tim Kerr injured the medial ligament in his knee and had to withdraw in his fourth match.

Steve Baca (126) had his nose broken, but in his coach's words, "gutted it out" and place third in the competition.

The Chico Invitational competition didn't prove as stiff as expected as Cal Poly SLO and University of Washington failed to show because of final examinations.

The University of Oregon and San Francisco State dominated the tournament, according to Kerr.
