| The matmen totaled three fifth place finishes with Mike Cunningham (158), George Jaegar (150), and Oscar Trevino
(135) garnering the honors. |

| Coach Terry Kerr is rapidly filling holes in the lineup which have hurt the team's performance. Football punter
Jeff Cunnigham will fill the 190-pound spot while Dean Prescott has already been successful in the previously vacant
177 class. |

| The lack of wrestlers took its toll in the Dec. 6 match against San Francisco State University in Spartan Gym. |

| The Spartans had to forfeit 12 team points because of the shortage, helping the Gators to a 31-19 win. SJSU won
four, tied one, and lost two in actual competition. |

| Strong light and middleweights paced the Spartans, including a pin by freshman Guevara and decisions by Kida, Lucas,
and Jaegar. |

| California State University at Sacramento is the next challenge for SJSU. The match will be held at Sacramento,
Tuesday Dec. 18 at 7:30 pm. |
