 Wrestling Tournament Scheduled For Tonight

One hundred and fifty wrestlers are entered in the 3-day San Jose State Intramural Wrestling Tournament which begins tonight at 7 pm in the men's wrestling room.

Alpha Tau Omega will be attempting to defend its team championship in the tournament but will be grappling against the largest group of wrestlers to ever enter the annual contest.

Not all of the entrants will be wrestling tonight because of the large number of participants. A list containing the scheduling of the matches and participants was posted by Intramural Director Dan Unruh in the men's wrestling room this morning.

There will be no stipulation between independent and fraternity participants in the tournament. However, all entrants will be wrestling nine different divisions.

The field has been divided into nine weight divisions ranging from 123 to 230 pounds. According to Unruh, "the largest number of participants in one division are entered in the heavyweight class."

Tomorrow evening the quarter and semi-final matches will be held at 6:30 pm. The losers of tonight's matches will be placed in a consolation bracket and will grapple again Thursday.

All of the finalists in the winner's and consolation brackets are scheduled to wrestle for the division championships Friday afternoon at 3:30 pm.
