Showing a strength hitherto unknown, the San Jose varsity wrestling team defeated a highly touted San Francisco YMCA squad by a score of 40-10, Friday night in the northern city.

With every match being decided by a fall, the Spartans won eight, losing only two. The most excitement came when Eldon Fisher, local wrestler, was matched against Ed Neal in the 118 pound division. At the end of the regulation 10 minute period neither man had enough top time to warrant a decision in his favor, and the match went into an extra period. After many tense moments Fisher finally succeeded in pinning his rival in a total time of 13:31.

At the close of Fisher's match, Jack Fiebig, Norther California AAU champion from San Jose, had little difficulty in disposing of Aaron Winters at 4:06. Vaughn Hubbard, Spartan 135 pounder, was the next in line, tossing Eugene Kosky at 1:34.

In the other two matches, Ivan Nelson (165) and Ralph Kelly (175) provided interest for the spectator before finally succumbing to the San Francisco Y men. The times for the matches were 2:38 and 1:27 respectively.
