SJSU Wrestling Archives The Spartan Daily 11-5-40                   Wrestlers Plan Big Home Meet Schedule           With the Junior PAAU tournament scheduled for Saturday night in Spartan Pavilion, wrestling coach Sam Della Maggiore is looking to an outstanding home-meet season. Della Maggiore plans to enter at least 15 Spartans in the tourney against competitors from University of California, California Aggies, San Francisco State, the Olympic Club, and Oakland, Berkeley, and San Francisco YMCAs. With such stiff opposition for the first meet, Della Maggiore has little hope of winning the team title. With their strong team from last year, the Olympic Club is favored to cop the title. Next competition for the matsters will be the annual novice tourney November 15 in Spartan Pavilion. This will make two weeks in a row that the wrestlers will appear locally. Della Maggiore is attempting to line up and attractive home-meet schedule and build local interest in the matmen. Negotiations are underway to bring the University of California, California Aggies, and the University of Nevada here again. Already scheduled is the California Collegiate Athletic Association tournament held in conjunction with the Winter Sports carnival. With the Junior PAAU this week, local fans will witness at least two outstanding tournaments.
