It will be a long day for SJSU wrestlers when they travel south to La Mirada, California, to wrestle in the Biola Tournament tomorrow.

Beginning at 10:00 am, the Spartans will take on the first of the five teams in the tournament in dual meet matches.

After the first match with Claremont, the Spartans will take on host Biola at 11:30 am, Fullerton State at 1:00 pm. Whittier at 2:30 pm, and Stanislaus State at 4:00 pm.

Coach T.J. Kerr will go mostly with younger wrestlers.

"With five duals in a day, this will give them a lot of experience and the chance to get a few matches under their belt," Kerr said.

"We are using a young lineup, but it's darn solid," Kerr continued. "A couple of years ago, i wouldn't have minded going with this team instead of the first team i had."

The lineup will be as follows: 118-Brad Gustafson, 126-Albert Perez, 134-David Barnes, 142-Cesar Escudero, 150-Jay Slivkoff, 158-Jeff Smith and Corkey Olmos, 167-Clay Davis, 177-Andy Tsarnas, 190-John Torrise, and Hwt-Jerry Morrison.

Kerr thinks that with the possible exception of Fullerton State, most of the other teams will go with their first team wrestlers.

The winner of the tournament will be determined on the final records of the squads, which will wrestle each other team in the tournament once.

Kerr considers Biola, Fullerton State, and possibly Stanislaus State as the toughest teams in the tournament.

Biola, which stands for Bible College of Los Angeles, traditionally has a strong team, according to Kerr.

"They recruit some good people and match their religious convictions with a good, strong wrestling program," Kerr Said.

Fullerton has a strong enough team to possibly go the same route as the Spartans, letting their younger wrestlers get some experience.
