Tonight in the small gym the annual all-college novice wrestling tourney will get underway with four coaches vieing
for the team title.
The date was shifted form Friday night because of the many students leaving that day for the weekend and the Fresno
football game Saturday.
At present, a dog fight is expected between Karl Kuhl's Natzis and Davey Hine's Boxers for the team title, with
Mel Bruno's Varsity House and Ivan Olsen's Soccer Squad battling it out for third place.
The Boxers will mat a strong team composed of Bill Sellers, Dick Myagawa, Bob Payne, Dave Siemon, and Glen Magnus.
According to Hines, the Boxers should win at least five individual titles.
Outstanding entrant for the Natzis will be Dave Kawamoto in the 145 pound class. Kawamoto captured second place
in last week's Northern California and Nevada Junior PAAU tourney and is favored tonight. Dave Siemon, a dark horse
entrant will oppose Kawamoto for the Boxers. |
