| The SJSU wrestling team returns to Spartan Gym to night at 7:30 to meet University of Nevada-Las Vegas. The Spartans
are now ranked 20th in the nation by Amateur Wrestling News. |
| |
| Nevada-Las Vegas Rebels bring a 9-4 dual meet record to San Jose. Rebels coach Dennis Finfrock boasts a squad with
many impressive grapplers. |
| |
| "They're going to be really tough. They've beaten some good schools and were close with Cal Poly," Finfrock
commented about SJSU. |
| |
| "We've been hurt most of the season," Finfrock continued. "It should be a good match. I would think
they've got the advantage because they're the home team and have a little better depth. We've been weakened because
of injuries." |
| |
| Roger DeSart at 118 pounds is UNLV's most highly touted wrestler. |
| |
| DeSart, with a 16-5 record, will be opposed by SJSU's Wayne Jones. Jones, fresh off a first-place finish in the
Portland State tournament, should make this one of the meet's featured matches. |
| |
| SJSU coach T.J. Kerr also looks forward to a tight heavyweight battle. SJSU's Casey Gulliford opposes Ernie Velton,
first-ranked heavyweight in the California junior college system this past year. |
| |
| UNLV will have a San Jose product, George Crowder, ranked second in California's JCs last year at 158. SJSU will
counter with either Adam Elias or Reggie Thompson. |
| |
| SJSU's Eddie Baza (18-3-1) will oppose Randy Martin (13-7) in what should be a tough 126-pound match-up. |
| |
| Junior Dave Brouhard, San Jose's 167 pounder, is now ranked 7th in the nation by Amateur Wrestling News. |
| |
| Brouhard will miss tonight's meet. Coach Kerr is hopeful Brouhard will be ready for Friday night's meet against
UCLA. |
