  Wrestler Prepare For Athens Club

Boasting three deep in the heavyweight ranks, San Jose State wrestlers are now preparing to meet the strong Athens Club squad of Oakland Saturday night in what is hoped to be the second of a series of no defeats this season.

Fresh from a two-week layoff since the San Francisco Y meet in which the Spartan matmen emerged winners by decisively beating the metropolitan champs 28-3, the SJS representatives are taking the Club seriously, which to date, is also undefeated and last week also trounced the San Francisco Y.

"Mitch" Ucovich will complete a trio of heavyweights that will wrestle Wednesday night for the right to represent the team against the Oaklanders. Sam Della Maggiore and John Jones have to date proved to be the class of the heavies. Those two irishmen, Ralph Kelley and Frank McGuire will be battling for prior rights in the 175 division.

Melvin Rush will again be forced to defend his title against Ivan Nelson (165). John Holtorf, a darkhorse in the 155 class will challenge George Wenglein who lost a hard fought match to Ed Brunetti of the Y two weeks ago. Perhaps the most sought after spot on the team is the 145 pound title which finds two of the Four Musketeers of radio fame, Carlton Lindgren and "Ma" Harder. Supporting these two will be Tom Steven and Clifford Horn.

Victor Hill, a 135-pounder, has come from nowhere to dispute the veterans Martin Olavarri and Vaughn Hubbard in what has grown to be the one division that has no worries for mentor Gene Grattan.
