State Grapplers Prepare For "Y" Tussle

With the San Francisco YMCA opposing the varsity and the Oakland YMCA taking on the second team with January 31
as the tentative date, the Spartan wrestlers are exhibiting plenty of pep in their daily workouts under the diligent
direction of coach Eugene B. Grattan.
Although the schedule called for the second team to meet San Mateo Junior College on January 25 and the varsity
to oppose Stanford on January 31, both matches have been canceled.
Handicapped by injuries, the SJS grapplers lost a tough one to UCLA Bruins down south last week. However, Peter
Enos, light heavyweight, one of the boys forced to default, is again in condition while John DeMello, heavyweight,
and Numerino Davin, featherweight, still numbered among the invalids, are expected to be able to compete against
the "Y" teams.
The remainder of the schedule will remain tentative until the present Spartan eligibility controversy is decided. |
