Gene Grattan's prayers have been answered.
For three months now, wrestling mentor Grattan has pleaded for a lightweight weighing in the vicinity of 118 pounds.
Henry Puckett was the man who scored points in this division for State last season, but since his departure there
hasn't been anyone to take his place--that is, up until Monday evening.
Well, Grattan's wanted man finally showed up in the person of Chic Tonouye, a diminutive japanese who barged into
the gym Monday all ready to learn the tricks of the trade. Jack Fiebig certainly rates an assist for Tonouye's
appearance. Fiebig claims he picked him up around the campus and the little japanese was more than anxious to try
a hand at the mat game. Tonouye, who is a sophomore and weighs 119 pounds, will take lessons from Fiebig and Grattan
and the rest of the boys also promise to aid him. He is a newcomer and gained fame at San Jose High School for
his track abilities. Grattan hopes to produce a consistent winner in Tonouye. |
