SJSU Wrestling Archives The Spartan Daily 1-18-38                  Grapplers Prepare For Next Match            Safely over their initial match of the season, Eugene Grattan's wrestling squad buckled down to serious work in preparation for their next encounter scheduled for the latter part of the week. The varsity, which humble San Francisco YMCA last week, proved beyond all doubt that this year's grapplers are every bit as good as last season's squad. Out of seven bouts against the SF team, only two went the nine minute limit. Carleton Lindgren and Mel Rush were extended that long but each clearly had the better of the going against their foes. The freshman squad didn't quite live up to advance notice when they were trimmed by Modesto JC, but still Grattan's yearlings show much promise and will develop into consistent winners before the season ends. Nightly workouts for both squads are being held from 5 till 6.
