SJSU Wrestling Archives The Spartan Daily 1-16-50                   Matmen Prep For Navymen           Wrestling coach Ted Mumby will send his varsity wrestlers through a two-day practice session in preparation for the three-way mat events to be held in the Spartan Gym on Wednesday evening with the El Toro marines and the Alameda Naval Air Station sailors. Lt. Henry Waryek, the El Toro coach, and wrestlers will arrive by plane at Moffett Field on game day. The southerners will boast veterans Jim Treadgill and Herman Beyer, and a host of newcomers to the grappling sport. The sailors from Alameda will have strongmen Ed Houle (115), John Aquilar (136), Al Chubb (165), Horace Adams (hwt), and Chet Biddle (hwt). These wrestlers from last year's team will out to avenge the 31-15 pasting given to them by the Spartans. Alameda coach C.E. Wright has kept secret the names of his 145 and 155 pounders, but Mumby stated that these weights could be the Alameda strong spots.
