Hugh Mumby's Spartan wrestling team, easy victors over Chico State Tuesday in the 1961 dual meet season opener, takes on a rugged University of California wrestling squad tomorrow night at 7:30 in the Spartan wrestling room MG207.

Mumby's freshmen and junior varsity wrestlers play host to Fresno City College in a 4:00 pm preliminary meet.

The frosh were beaten by Cabrillo College 11-6 Tuesday night in their season opener. Mumby cited Warren King, 147-pound class entrant, and Cliff Olson (157) for their decision wins over a pair of top Seahawk grapplers.

Saturday will also find a bevy of wrestlers on the SJS campus as San Jose provides the setting for the Pacific Association AAU's junior freestyle tournament in MG207 from noon until early evening.

Between 15-20 of Mumby's frosh matmen and other non-letter winners will compete in the all-afternoon tourney, which Mumby expects will draw around 60 entries.

The San Francisco Olympic Club and several Bay Area YMCAs will enter as competitors, according to Mumby.

Having nabbed the Northern California collegiate title last December in their first effort, the Spartans will face rugged competition in Berkeley's Golden Bears.

Cal sports a trio of returning veterans in the middle weight classes as well as a couple of outstanding newcomers.

Fortunately, the Spartans are also strong in the middle divisions.

With the exception of the heavyweight division, Mumby will send the same aggregation that whipped Chico against Cal.

The Spartan entries:

123: Dave Armstrong

130: Dave Nevis

137: Bob Lopez

147: Leroy Stewart

157: Jerry Nelson

167: Fred Yrueta

177: Bernie Slate

Hwt: Paul Hodgins
